A 13 de Outubro do ano 2000, um grupo de jovens setubalenses decidiu tomar nas suas mãos a gestão de um espaço comunitário apartidário, aberto à expressão e acção livre, sem controlo externo, sem lucro, sem autoridade…
Okuparam um espaço abandonado transformando a apatia e o vazio em sonhos e experiências de liberdade, autonomia e auto-gestão.
Passaram 18 anos com largas dezenas de concertos, atliers, debates, exposições, todo o convívio, partilhas de conhecimentos e auto-aprendizagem, a intervenção política e social…
Passaram os vários políticos, comandantes das forças policiais, governadores civis, os processos judiciais, a repressão policial e as difamações nos jornais, passou tudo isto e a Casa Okupada resiste.
Passaram 18 anos e nem a polícia, nem os tribunais poderão apagar este capítulo da história insubmissa e rebelde setubalense.
São diversos os exemplos de Lutas daquelxs que deixaram de esperar milagres e tomaram o controlo das suas vidas nas suas próprias mãos, inspirando-nos mutuamente, e reinventando a capacidade de imaginarmos e criarmos colectivamente uma terra livre, solidária e combativa.

In the 13th October of 2000 a group of young people in the city of Setúbal decided to carry out the experience of opening a self-organized space with a political background. An open space to expression and free action, without external control, profit or authority.
They squatted an abandoned space replacing apathy and emptiness with dreams and experiences of freedom, autonomy and self organization. Throughout the years dozens of concerts, workshops, debates, exhibitions, meetings, sharing knowledge and self learning, political and social intervention happened…Along with it several politicians, chief commanders of the police, civil governors, court lawsuits, police repression and defamation in the newspapers attempted to destroy its idea, but the squatted house resisted.
18 years passed and neither the police or the courts can erase this chapter in the unsubmissive and rebel history of the city. There are many examples of people who, instead of waiting for a miraculous change to happen, decided to take control of their own lives, inspiring one another, to free themselves to imagine and create free, solidary and combative zones.
No one can take this 18 years from us!

Am 13. Oktober 2000 beschloss eine Gruppe von jungen Menschen aus Setúbal, das Betreiben von einem politischen, allen zugänglichen Raum, in die Hände zu nehmen. Geöffnet dem Ausdruck von freier Aktion, ohne einer Kontrolle von Aussen, ohne Profit und Authoritäten. Sie besetzten ein verlassenes Haus, um Apathie und stumpfe Leere in Träume und praktische Erfahrungen von Freiheit, Autonomie und Selbstverwaltung zu verwandeln.
18 Jahre sind vergangen mit Konzerten, Workshops, Debatten, Ausstellungen, Treffen, dem Teilen und Verbreiten von Wissen und Fertigkeiten, gegenseitigem Lehren und Lernen und dem Eingreifen in politische und soziale Felder des Lebens. Viele Politiker, Polizeichefs, Regierende, Gerichtsverfahren, Polizeigewalt und Diffamierungen von Seite der Medien zogen ins Land, zogen vorüber. Das besetzte Haus hielt stand und leistete Widerstand. Weder Polizei noch Gerichte vermögen dieses Kapitel der unbeugsamen und rebellischen setúbalenischen Geschichte auszuradieren.
Vielfältig sind die Kämpfe derer, die aufhörten zu warten. Die, die dass Wunder geschehen liessen, Kollektiv die Kontrolle über ihre Leben in die Hände nahmen, sich gegenseitig inspirierten und unterstützen. Die, die damit begannen, sich die Fähigkeit wieder anzueignen Utopien zu imaginieren und für ein freies und solidarisches Leben zu kämpfen.
Niemand kann uns diese 18 Jahre nehmen!
